HEAD COACH – LURGAN AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB

Lurgan Amateur Swimming Club are seeking to recruit a new Head Coach to lead our experienced and dedicated coaching team and to continue to develop and lead established competitive and non-competitive programmes and swimming squads.

REPORTING TO: Lurgan Amateur Swimming Club Management Committee

LOCATION: South Lake Leisure Centre, Craigavon, Co. Armagh. Boasting a 25m and 50m pool.

HOURS: Up to 19.5 coaching hours per week plus admin and attendance at competitions and events.

Coaching hours will be agreed with the successful candidate but will be within current pool schedule.

Current pool schedule:

Tuesday 6.00 – 7.30 am

Tuesday 6.00 – 9.30 pm

Wednesday 6.30 – 8.30 pm

Thursday 6.00 – 9.30 pm

Friday 6.30 – 9.30 pm

Saturday 7.30 – 9.30 am

Sunday 7.00 – 9.00 am

Sunday 5.00 – 7.00 pm

SALARY: Renumeration will reflect level and experience

STARTING DATE: As soon as possible

ABOUT OUR CLUB

We are a Competitive Swimming Club based at South Lake Leisure Centre Craigavon, we currently have approximately 165 members and we strive to provide a safe positive and competitiveenvironment for all our members. Our swimmers are enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated and compete at Local and National Level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of Swim Ireland Level 2 Coaching Swimming;

• Up to date Swim Ireland Safeguarding Level 1 certificate;

• Up to date Access NI vetting through Swim Ulster; and Current Swim Ireland coaches’ licence

• Up to date CPD points (6)

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Hard working and passionate about swimming;

• Self-motivated with the ability to enthuse a wide range of participants;

• Good planning and organisational skills;

• Strong leadership and mentoring skills to continue to motivate and develop our coaching team;

• Strong understanding of the technical aspects of strokes, starts & turns;

• A proven track record of developing swimmers to compete at a high level;

• Strong interpersonal and communications skills;

• Team player with the ability to collaborate.

MAIN DUTIES:

Our swimmers are at the heart of everything we do, your main duties will be to:

• Develop athletes’ skills in preparation for advancement through the club’s established squad programme and competition structure to assist and support swimmers to achieve their full potential;

• To provide a positive and safe environment for all members and to be a positive role model;

• To deliver a technical programme for competitive swimmers, following Swim Ireland Long Term Athlete Development Plan;

• Evaluate sessions and give feedback;

• Arrange assessments for potential new members;

• Prepare and deliver session plans for squads in conjunction with club plans;

• Leading, mentoring and developing our dedicated volunteer coaching team;

• To collaborate closely with gala secretaries to select appropriate meets for athletes.

• Attend competitions and events;

• Produce and deliver an annual coaching and competition plan for squads;

• Comply with Swim Ireland safeguarding young people policies and procedures;

• Comply with Lurgan Amateur Swimming Clubs constitution and handbook;

• Ensure your Swim Ireland coach licence is kept up to date and attend continuing education offerings to swimming coaches;

• Represent coaches at monthly committee meetings; and

• Support the Club and committee in its efforts to ensure financial security.
